58th Croatian and 17th International Symposium of Agronomists
From June 19 to 24, 2022, the 58th Croatian and 17th International Symposium of Agronomists was held in Vodice, organized by the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. The Climate and Agriculture section was held for the first time at the Symposium, and Prof. Danijel Jug gave an overview of the topics of the presentations and posters of the section in his opening speech. 11 lectures were held and seven posters were exhibited. Dr. Višnja Vučetić presented on behalf of the Croatian Agrometeorological Society on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its foundation about agro and silvometeorological research in the service of users.
She pointed out that these studies can help modern agriculture in adapting to new climatic conditions and mitigating the consequences of climate change, as well as how to implement preventive measures to protect forests against fire. In addition, another 15 HAgMD members participated as authors or co-authors in presentations or poster on behalf of their faculties or institutions. The main topics were seasonal forecasting in agriculture, the climate change impacts on the phenological stages of the grapevine, the adaptation of maize technics to climate change, the impact of conservation tillage on the weed occurrence, and the field water capacity in conditions of climate change, and soil fluxes of carbon dioxide in winter wheat.
