Little School "Fire is no joke" held on the island of Mljet
Within the framework of the Little School "Fire is no joke", the homonymous animated short film was shown to the 50 pupils from the first to the fourth grade of the Babino Polje Primary School on the island of Mljet and to the children of kindergarten on May 12, 2017. Marijana Miljas Đuračić from the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas of Nature of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and also a member of HAgMD, led the Little School with the help of the Public Fire Brigade Mljet.
Danger and consequences of forest fires on nature and people, especially during the summer, were shown to the pupils and pre-school children. Since Dubrovnik-Neretva County is among the most threatened areas of forest fire, considerable resources and great efforts are needed to carry out preventive measures to prevent the emergence of catastrophic wildfires and reduce the high costs of extinguishing and remediation of fires site.
